Africa-Press – Angola. The director of the Provincial Office of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Government of Benguela, José Gomes, announced, Tuesday (25), that the sector is carrying out a set of public consultations, on the basis of a proposal from the World Bank on the implementation of the Family Farming Reinforcement Project.
The consultations aim to determine the best ways for the MOSAP III Programme, initiated by the Angolan Government and financed by the World Bank, to disburse, in the short term, credits in favor of local farmers and peasant families.
The credit is intended to encourage the agricultural production process, mainly for the municipalities of Balombo, Bocoio, Caimbambo and those on the coast of the province, namely Benguela, Catumbela and Lobito.
José Gomes said, on the other hand, that the implementation of the project is, as a rule, preceded by a public consultation to allow the study of the impact of the productivity capacity of the farmers, to assess the level of organization, as well as to allow the future beneficiaries of the credits have the information necessary for the successful implementation of the program.
“With the arrival in Benguela, the project will also, in addition to farmers and peasants, cover animal breeders, entrepreneurs involved in the acquisition and distribution of inputs, as well as operators of other actions with an impact on the dynamism of agriculture, such as water and sanitation”, explained the director, who explained that this was the first time in the province.
