MPLA defends greater commitment to the social sector in Huíla

Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial secretary of the MPLA in Huíla, Nuno Mahapi, promised Monday, that his party, as a government, will make a greater commitment to the Education and Health sectors, as they are the factors that contribute to the integral development of the province.

Nuno Mahapi made this commitment at the opening of the 3rd Plenary Meeting of the MPLA Provincial Committee in Huíla, stressing that it was time for him to strengthen policies, programs and projects, ensuring that they were aligned with the needs and aspirations of the Huila people, as the transformation of the province starts with that of its citizens.

He detailed that the MPLA has the responsibility of leading the province’s destinies along the paths of progress and prosperity, but it must first guarantee equal access to quality education, promoting the formation of a more educated society, aware of its rights and duties.

“We need to prioritize the well-being of the populations, as access to health services should be a fundamental right, so it is necessary to invest in improving health infrastructure and strengthening the health system in the province as a whole”, stressed.

In addition, he continued, it is essential that the party continues to promote economic and sustainable development, stimulating entrepreneurship, encouraging investment in strategic sectors, such as infrastructure, agriculture and industry, boosting economic growth and the creation of decent jobs for citizens, to reduce social inequality.

He highlighted that the MPLA, since its foundation, has been a “tireless defender” of social justice and the development of our country and today the world is facing major transformations and Huíla is not immune to these transformations and it is at this moment that the strength and dedication of the militants must prevail.

He asked the militants to continue to promote peace, stability and unity, as diversity is one of the greatest riches of Angolans and differences should be celebrated and respected.

The event is attended by members of the central and provincial committees and the executive committee of Huíla and is witnessed by the secretary of the Political Bureau for the Political area of Cadres of the Central Committee and coordinator of the follow-up group to the province of Huíla, Ângela Bragança.
