Africa-Press – Angola. Eighty-six orphaned and abandoned children, under the care of Casa do Gaiato in Malanje, benefited Thursday, from food, sports equipment, household utensils, hygiene products and used clothing, in an initiative by the MPLA board.
The delivery of the goods fell to the general secretary of the MPLA, Paulo Pombolo, and is part of the party’s social support program for people in vulnerable situations.
The secretary of the Political Bureau for Social Policy, Maricel Capama, said on the occasion that the organization will continue to prioritize the most needy fringes, with a view to minimizing their living conditions.
He stressed that the party is not oblivious to the needs that foster homes face all over the country, so it will continue to deliver essential goods to them.
In turn, one of those responsible for the Casa do Gaiato de Malanje, André Tito, said that the goods now donated will help to reduce the difficulties that the institution has been facing in recent times.
In addition to food goods, he pointed out the lack of scholarships for higher education, agricultural equipment to increase production and equipping the recently completed technical-professional school as other difficulties that the House is experiencing.
In a message, the children thanked the gesture and asked for means of transport and reinforcement of medicines.
In addition to the 86 children, Casa do Gaiato controls 16 young people who are attending higher education.
It should be recalled that the MPLA secretary general ended this afternoon a three-day working visit to the province of Malanje, where he interacted with the different structures of the organization at the level of the municipalities of Malanje, Kiwaba Nzoji and Cangandala, as well as visited undertakings social.
His delegation included the national secretaries of OMA and JMPLA, respectively Joana Tomás and Crispiniano dos Santos, and those of the Political Bureau for Social Policy and State Reform, Public Administration and Municipalities, namely Maricel Capama and Mário Pinto de Andrade.
