MPLA elects new second provincial secretary in Benguela

Africa-Press – Angola. With 148 votes in favour, members of the Provincial Committee of the MPLA in Benguela elected Tuesday, Tuesday, Rosalina Kasisa for the position of second local secretary of this party.

The election comes as a result of the recent appointment by the President of the Republic of the former second provincial secretary, António Calianguila, to join the Board of Directors of Porto do Lobito.

Two candidates competed to fill the vacancy, namely Rosalina Kasisa and Janice de Oliveira Neves, both members of the Central Committee of the MPLA.

Rosalina Kasisa thus becomes the first woman to hold this position in the province, elected during the IV ordinary meeting of this political formation.

Speaking to the press, Rosalina Kasisa said that now, as second secretary, she assumes the party’s challenges with great responsibility, which she acknowledged are not easy, but which she hopes to overcome with the support of the militants.

The new second secretary promised to work hard, also with the support of her party’s leadership, to guarantee the implementation of programs that contribute to solving the already identified problems of the people.

For the official, it is necessary to continue working so that the Executive’s actions have an increasingly visible impact on the lives of citizens.

Among these actions, he highlighted a greater offer and improvement in the supply of drinking water to the communities, electricity, extension of the health and school networks.

The high levels of behavioral deviations that are registered not only among the youth, but also among the population in general, require hard work to rescue moral values, he added.

However, the 1st provincial secretary of the MPLA in Benguela, Luís Nunes, who guided the meeting, asked the militants for a strong collaboration with Rosalina Kasisa, highlighting that women have more and more, on their own merit, increased responsibilities in all spheres of life from the country.

Luís Nunes took the opportunity to thank António Calianguila, who left office, for his commitment and dedication towards the growth of the party in Ombaka.

The deputy coordinator of the monitoring group of the MPLA Central Committee, Joaquim Minguêis, told the militants that they all have the mission of continuing to work hard to strengthen the party’s leadership in Benguela province.

To this end, he recalled, it is essential to continue to improve the style of work and the way of doing politics, without neglecting a good and harmonious working environment within the ranks of the party itself.

171 members of the Provincial Committee of the MPLA in Benguela participated in the IV ordinary meeting.
