MPLA highlights women's merit and participation in general elections

Africa-Press – Angola. Through a message addressed to women on the occasion of the International Day, the MPLA praised the avant-garde position of Angolans in unconditional support of all manifestations of struggle for their rights and calls for their active participation in the challenges politicians, alerting, therefore, to the need to update the electoral register.

For the MPLA, only in this way will women obtain legitimacy for the exercise of the vote, choosing the party that best serves to direct their desires. The message, signed by her Political Bureau, highlighted the initiative and merit of Angolan women in reinforcing their role as protagonists in the transformations of society.

“The MPLA recognizes the growing capacity of Angolan women to assume positions of command and leadership, management and leadership positions, aware that there are still advances to be made, aiming at abandoning the secondary position historically indexed to women, and praises the role of women in in favor of actions that promote values ​​that dignify all Humanity, due to the unique and exclusive condition of being the generator of human lives, recognized as the greatest heritage in the universe”.

Despite the remnants of the historical heritage that weaken women, the MPLA assures that, in the Angolan context, it continues to address the problem of this fringe of society, which by the way is the majority in the demographic universe, in the perspective of reaching the point of equality and respect in social relations, as a result of the policy measures implemented by the Executive constituted through the legitimacy democratically conferred on the MPLA by the Angolans. In this way, “any explicit or implicit initiative to associate the female figure with the idea of ​​subalternity is condemned,” the message reads, stressing that, under the guidance of the MPLA, Angola has stimulated the process of emancipation of Angolan women, a right conquered through its historic participation in the national liberation struggle and development.
