Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA Political Bureau lamented this Tuesday, in Luanda, the death of journalist Domingos Oliveira “Yaya”, aged 78, which occurred recently in the country’s capital.

According to a note sent, this body considers that “his physical disappearance leaves a great void within the MPLA’s first-rate militants”.

With a remarkable historical past in the broad movement for national liberation, of which he was a guerrilla fighter, the MPLA considers Domingos Oliveira to be a figure of multiple qualities, following the example of the world of arts in which he had a memorable foray whose memory Angolans will always remember , with the highest political and patriotic value.

It explains that the politician and man of culture had a deep revolutionary and patriotic streak, who dedicated himself fearlessly, dedicatedly and heroically to the noblest causes of the MPLA, which he joined in 1962, from Matadi, in Lower Congo Leopoldville.

He was awarded the “Second Class Military Merit” medal, as well as promoted to the military rank of brigadier of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).

The MPLA considers the deceased a true patriot, with a deep knowledge of the glorious past of the party in power, as well as of many illustrious sons of Angola.

Due to the unfortunate event, we read, the MPLA’s BP bows down to the memory of the deceased, sending feelings of condolence to the bereaved family.

Of the deceased’s many talents, he highlights his participation, as the main actor, in the film “The true life of Domingos Xavier”, by Luandino Vieira, ​filmed in Congo Brazzaville​, in 1972.
