Africa-Press – Angola. The second secretary of the MPLA Provincial Committee of Malanje, Nelo de Carvalho, reiterated today, Wednesday, in this city, the party’s support for business initiatives aimed at generating wealth based on business capacity and creativity.
“The MPLA praises those who obtain income and individual wealth based on their work, their effort, their capacity and their business creativity”, he stressed, stressing that in addition to being lawful, this practice contributes to the country’s economic development.
The politician made this statement at the opening ceremony of the provincial seminar on the moralization of society promoted by the MPLA in the province, which aimed to instil in citizens and public managers the spirit of combating corruption and other evils that plague society.
He stressed that for the MPLA, the fight against corruption is an essential pillar for strengthening the State and justice in Angola, therefore, the party condemns this and other practices that contribute to illicit enrichment and disruption of the economy.
“The MPLA condemns those who condone practices involving the illicit transaction of public goods, who take advantage of their position in the State apparatus to illicitly enrich themselves at the expense of the Angolan people”, he stressed.
On the other hand, Nelo de Carvalho expressed the party’s commitment to continue fighting all forms of corruption, as it is a gesture that weakens democratic institutions and undermines the confidence of citizens and national and foreign investors in the government.
When speaking about “The fight against corruption, impunity, flattery and nepotism, rescue of civic and moral values and respect for difference, the Public Prosecutor Severino Manuel warned about the negative effects of these phenomena, whose contours affect development, violating legal legal instruments and jeopardizing the reputation of those who practice them and of the State itself.
Alongside this, he considered that other practices harmful to good governance are nepotism and impunity, as they harm societies and the parsimonious management of public funds, as they favor a reduced number of citizens, to the detriment of the majority.
In turn, the jurist Samuel Mulula, who spoke about democracy and good governance, highlighted the need for public servants to act in the exercise of their functions, in accordance with the law, since governance must serve the public interest, therefore, the action of the manager is limited to meeting the needs of the population, which often does not occur because it reverts to the illicit enrichment of said managers.
Meanwhile, the jurist Eusébio Domingos warned about the role of the administration of justice bodies in the fight against corruption, having elucidated the actors of the judicial system in the sense of giving priority to impartiality in cases of corruption and others, as a way of contributing to the fight against this practice.
Lasting just a few hours, the event aimed to prevent future acts of corruption, nepotism, flattery and impunity among rulers and the general population, as well as to promote moral, civic and ethical values and the spirit of denunciation.
