Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial secretary of the MPLA in Cunene, Gerdina Didalelwa, reaffirmed, this Saturday, that her party remains firm and committed to peacekeeping, reconciliation and guaranteeing the country’s stability, progress and development.
Speaking at the political act of the youth march in support of peace, he said that during its historical trajectory, the MPLA has emphasized its role in preserving independence, maintaining sovereignty, the country’s territorial integrity and promoting policies for the good -being of the Angolans.
According to the secretary, the MPLA has always based itself on its legitimacy in the leadership of transformative processes in the country, with fundamentals and policies that the most important thing is to solve the people’s problem.
Gerdina Didalelwa stressed that peace, being a basic assumption of any society, must be preserved and protected by all, regardless of their ethical origin, religious conviction, social condition or political option.
He warned of everyone’s engagement to put an end to all types of hostility and disturbance of social harmony and awareness and effective purification of all spirits, towards the improvement of fraternal relations that should exist between the children of this country.
The leader reasoned that for the effective maintenance of peace it is necessary to opt for tolerance of the political opponent, listen to different opinions and constructive criticism, as well as avoid slander, misinformation, defamation, publication and dissemination of false information, intrigue and discrediting of the institutions of the State.
The leader considered “essential” the moralization of society, adoption of attitudes, postures and behaviors aimed at consolidating the peace that cost Angolans blood and tears to guarantee the progress and sustainable development of the country.
However, he referred that after the conquest of peace, the reconstruction of the country began, previously devastated by the war, the reunion of families, the free movement of people and goods throughout the national territory.
He added that in order to trace the paths of progress and guarantee the sustainability, economic and social growth that we dream of, the active participation of youth is essential.
For his part, the provincial secretary of JMPLA, Ireno Nambalo, said that the march constituted a recognition and homage to all the youth who shed their blood for the achievement of peace.
He said that the preservation of peace and national reconciliation is among the organization’s social responsibility packages, where young people are called to be more committed to the country.
“Young people are called to be promoters and ambassadors of peace and national security, to make Angola an inclusive and developed democratic country”, he explained.
Peace in Angola resulted from the Complementary Memorandum of Understanding to the Lusaka Protocol, signed between the Angolan Government and UNITA, on April 4, 2002.
