Africa-Press – Angola. The Political Bureau of the MPLA reaffirmed, this Saturday, its position of “unconditional defender” of the deeds of national heroes, with particular emphasis on those involved in the attacks on the PIDE-DGS prisons, in Luanda.
These are attacks that took place at dawn on February 4, 1961, to free Angolan nationalists engaged in the struggle for National Independence.
The MPLA’s position is expressed in a declaration alluding to the 62nd anniversary of the beginning of the armed struggle for national liberation, which marks yesterday.
In the document, the ruling party in Angola “effusively salutes” the architects of the 4th of February for “such a sublime act”.
In the declaration, the Political Bureau of the MPLA also salutes the heroes of the 4th of February for their selfless and patriotic dedication in the process of the national liberation struggle.
He stresses the fact that the aforementioned process led the “MPLA to the proclamation of National Independence on November 11, 1975”, to achieve the “defense of territorial integrity, the conquest of peace, reconciliation and national unity”.
The MPLA Political Bureau takes advantage of the occasion to appeal to Angolans to celebrate the date with love for the country and dedication to work.
He considers it essential that the heroes of the 4th of February be honored with “a spirit of promoting Peace, Development and reinforcing actions aimed at educating the new generations” about the history of the Angolan people.
In the statement, the MPLA reiterates its gratitude for the vote of confidence that the Angolan People granted in the last electoral process, to President João Lourenço and to the Party.
By the way, it reaffirms the “commitment to work with everyone for the effective materialization of the actions of the 2022-2027 Government Program, under the sign of peace and development”.
