Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the MPLA Parliamentary Group, Virgílio de Fontes Pereira, said this Sunday (25), in Huíla, that the party, by taking the initiative to integrate “Electoral Transparency” in the debate of the National Assembly, demonstrates that “the processes have been clean and much clearer than is said, and it is a clear sign of interest in running in credible and transparent elections.
The deputy stressed that, in order to measure this, “it is enough to see the loss of 10 percent, in the last two elections, as proof of fairness and electoral transparency”.
For the president of the MPLA Parliamentary Group, the opposition’s speech on the lack of transparency has an unethical character, as it expresses a complaint that seeks, on the one hand, to obstruct the seriousness of the process and, on the other, the lack of ability to deliver results to your support base.
Virgílio de Fontes Pereira stated, in this sense, that the opposition’s opaque speech fulfills the two functions mentioned above. “It seems to show its dishonesty, first, and gives the impression, secondly, that whenever the opposition screams, it is because they see the wolf behind them, and we, the MPLA, are not to blame for the opposition’s fear.”
Executive Actions
Virgílio de Fontes Pereira said that MPLA deputies monitor the execution of programs aimed at citizens, and recognize the effort of everyone who, with their knowledge and willpower, supports the Executive’s actions, contributing to the country’s economic growth, the result of which allows the improvement of the social situation of families.
“It is thanks to perseverance, a sense of commitment to the country, that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will undergo an acceleration, according to data from some financial agencies that evaluated the Government’s programs as positive”, underlined the deputy, having done so. knowing that the results “are only possible with the contribution of all workers in the country”.
Virgílio de Fontes Pereira, who made these remarks during the opening of the IV Days of the MPLA Parliamentary Group, which will end on the 30th, in Huíla province, assured that the party’s deputies are following, with due attention, the processes of governance and, therefore, recognize the Executive’s willingness to solve citizens’ problems. “We have, as examples, the projects carried out in Cunene and Cabinda, which prove the materialization of the MPLA Government’s program, which are the expression of the high commitment assumed in 2017, under the motto “Correct what is wrong, and improve what’s okay!”
He mentioned, by the way, that the MPLA parliamentary group is attentive to the strike demonstrations by doctors and higher education teachers. In this sense, he said that the deputies of the majority bench are available to help the parties to find, as far as possible, a solution that satisfies the demands of some and the budgetary adjustments of the Executive, stressing that “with national workers, the future has a name, Angola”.
The president of the MPLA Parliamentary Group, alluding to the programs implemented by the Executive, admitted that many initiatives were disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, whose effects suffocated some of the elementary measures contained in public policies, especially those related to the Health sector. , having forced States throughout the world to limit economic activities and the movement of people and goods.
Although important segments of society have been conditioned, the MPLA deputy considered the results in the country to be positive, and he was open to the debate of various issues that constitute daily business concerns. “As representatives of the people, we have to share with them their experiences, concerns and find the best solutions”, he pointed out.
Virgílio de Fontes Pereira therefore urged MPLA deputies to continue to defend the party’s purposes with ethics and political responsibility, in terms of legislation and political oversight, with a view to facilitating the exercise of governance conceived, in due course, for the development from the country. For the MPLA, he said, the wish, “according to the orientation of our president, continues to be the faithful translation of a maxim alive until today, which expresses the traditional unequivocal relationship that “MPLA is the People, and the People is the MPLA”.
The deputies, gathered at the IV MPLA Parliamentary Days, which take place under the motto “Peace and Development”, will consider matters related to the Electoral Registration and the 2022 Elections, the MPLA’s Political Agenda for 2022, the Party’s Political Strategy, Registration Process and Electoral Legislation, as well as Stabilization of basic food basket prices, among other matters.
The first secretary of the MPLA in the province of Huíla, Nuno Mahapi Dala, guaranteed that the conditions are created for the deputies to verify, in the 14 municipalities, the impact of the socio-economic projects, concluded and in execution, with emphasis on those of the Integrated Program of Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).
