The MPLA salutes, for the celebration, today, of the 4th of April, the Day of Peace and National Reconciliation, “all the living forces of the Nation that, directly or indirectly, contributed to the end of the armed conflict that for decades tore the country apart. ”, while paying “patriotic tribute to the heroes fallen for the noblest causes of the Angolan people”.
In a message, the ruling party in Angola calls for the selfless involvement of all Angolans in the process of strengthening citizenship and building an increasingly developed, democratic and inclusive society, guaranteeing the sovereignty, territorial integrity of the country and security. citizens, with a view to defending the hard-won conquests, at the cost of the blood shed by many of Angola’s best children.
The MPLA considers itself the party that best knows how to interpret the aspirations of the Angolan people and reaffirms its commitment to peace and national reconciliation, “fundamentally reflected in the policy measures regarding the reinforcement of the bases for the democratization of Civil Society, enhancing its growing participation in the strengthening of family structures, in the definition of public policies, in the reform of the State, or even in the promotion of cultural values and solidarity among young people, as well as more ethical and participatory behaviors of youth in the development of the country”.
By highlighting the role of civil society, the MPLA reiterates the urgency of improving joint efforts aimed at promoting national unity and a culture of peace, ensuring broad dissemination and awareness of relevant historical facts and achievements of the collective memory of the Angolan people and source of inspiration for the patriotic education of youth and future generations, investing in an education that enhances human capital capable of facing the challenges of economic growth and productive diversification.
“In this year of great civic and political challenges, with emphasis on the holding of General Elections, in August, the MPLA reaffirms its responsibility to continue to assume the vanguard role in the dissemination of ethical and patriotic values and behavior, with actions that praise the achievements achieved, and that transform the electoral process into a true party of democracy, in which everyone is called to participate with high civic demonstrations in favor of peace and development in Angola”, reads the message.
