MPLA vice president discusses cooperation with Uganda

Africa-Press – Angola. The vice-president of the MPLA, Luísa Damião, received in audience, this Monday, in Luanda, the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of Uganda, Henry Oryem Okello, with whom she addressed aspects related to cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking to the press at the end, Henry Oryem Okello highlighted the fraternal and welcoming way in which the meeting with the MPLA vice-president took place and recalled Angola’s trajectory of struggle that led to the liberation of Namibia and the fall of the apartheid regime in Africa southern.

He stated that Angola and Uganda can, within the framework of political dynamics, work for peace and stability in the Great Lakes region.

“We discussed joint ways of how we can work for the pacification of the region, dealing with existing conflicts”, he said.

In his speech, he stressed that only with peace, security and stability in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Uganda will be able to continue on the path of development.

Henry Oryem Okello is in Angola within the framework of strengthening cooperation. He was received by the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António.
