Africa-Press – Angola. The general secretary of the MPLA, Paulo Pombolo, appealed, Thursday, in the city of Cuito, province of Bié, to activists to look at and develop with greater responsibility the process of taking stock and renewing mandates in the MPLA Action Committees. Party (CAP).
The process of reviewing and renewing mandates in the Party Action Committees (CAP), which falls within the scope of strengthening the MPLA’s base structures, starts on Friday (17/05), throughout the national territory.
Paulo Pombolo made this appeal when speaking to his party members, moments after his arrival in this region, located in the center of the country, for a four-day workday.
For the party leader, CAP are considered base organizations of the MPLA where its true strength lies, without which it would not exist and would not have the form it has in society.
“We only overcame our challenges thanks to CAP, supported by the JMPLA committees, the cores and sections of the OMA”, he highlighted.
Because of this, he said it is imperative that party members hold review assemblies and renew mandates responsibly, in order to know how to choose the future leaders of these committees.
Paulo Pombolo appealed, on the other hand, to the members of the CAP monitoring groups to fulfill their role, in order to guarantee the desired objectives within the scope of the aforementioned process.
Regarding his arrival in the province of Bié, he said it was part of the process of taking stock and renewing the mandate of the action committees, taking into account the program established by the Secretariat of the Political Bureau, in order to give shape to the party’s political agenda for the year 2024, launched on February 3rd.
In this context, he said that he will seek, throughout his work agenda, to interact with activists and the population in general, in order to listen to their concerns and gather expectations and ideas about strategies to counteract the difficult situation that the country is facing. across multiple domains.
More Angola and More Citizenship Program
During his speech, he said that his visit to Bié will also serve to present the MPLA initiative, which was recently launched by the Secretariat of the Political Bureau, through its Citizenship and Civil Society Office, called “Mais Angola e Mais Citizenship”.
This initiative, he said, aims to cultivate love and forgiveness among Angolans, taking into account the consolidation of national reconciliation, unity and democracy in Angola.
On the other hand, Paulo Pombolo also spoke of the need to continue investing in local production, with a view to diversifying the national economy, as he understands the key to Angola’s problems.
He mentioned that Bié is at the forefront in terms of agricultural production, and that, therefore, it should serve as an example for other regions of the country, producing more and more to create food capacity to mitigate hunger and poverty among the population..
Paulo Pombolo heads a delegation made up of members of the Political Bureau and the MPLA Central Committee, who will work for four days in the municipalities of Cuito, Catabola, Cunhinga, Chitembo, Chinguar and Nharea, with the aim of learning about the socio-political and organizational situation of the party.
In these municipalities, the delegation will visit action committees and social projects to be built within the scope of public programs and deliver professional kits to ex-military cooperatives.
In the municipality of Cuito, in particular, the program includes a visit to the Bishopric of the Diocese of Cuito, the Cuito Martyrs of the Resistance Monument and the International University of Cuanza, located on the outskirts of this city, in addition to a meeting with the leaders of the associations youth, sports and civil society in the province.
Sunday, the last day, a thanksgiving service is scheduled at the Peace Cathedral of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Angola (IECA).
