Muhatu Network Calls for Greater Inclusion of Women in the Mining Sector

Africa-Press – Angola. The Muhatu Energy Angola Network (MEA) and the Angolan Association of Women in Geosciences (AAMG) called, on Friday, for greater inclusion of women in the mining sector.The appeal was made during a hearing with the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Dimantino Azevedo.

The meeting addressed issues related to transparency, commitment, leadership, gender equality, discrimination in the workplace, occupational diseases, health and safety in the mining sector.

According to MIREMPET, on Facebook, the meeting also served to present the balance of the activities that are being developed within the scope of the two associations, but also to try to align them with the challenges of the sector.

According to the president of Rede Muhatu Energy Angola and administrator of ANPG, Nicola Nvuayi, there are currently around 14% of women in the oil sector and the objective is to increase this number at technical and management level.

On the occasion, the president of AAMG, Esperança dos Santos, expressed her willingness to improve cooperation between genders in the sector and contribute to the country’s development.
