Africa-Press – Angola. “Minha Luanda” is the title of the collective exhibition of plastic arts, held at the Hotel Intercontinental Luanda, in an initiative of the Cucarte project, to show the talent of young artists from the peripheral areas of the capital.
The exhibition, which opened on Tuesday, the 25th, during the celebrations of the 446th anniversary of the city of Luanda, is the result of a competition held in November last year. The mentors’ idea was to give visibility to these artists in an increasingly competitive market.
The 48 works are on display until February 18, at the Hotel Intercontinental Luanda, are for sale, but with some reserved and with 70 percent of the value in favor of the artist and 30 percent for “Change 1’s Life”, a social cause for artistic promotion. The
director of the InterContinental Hotel, Nuno Neves, considers the act to be a positive move as it supports a youth initiative aimed at communities and encouraging local culture and talent, helping to give visibility to creators.
For Sara Bayyurt, from the Castel group, it is a moment of pride for the brand that can thus be part of the celebrations of the anniversary of the city of Luanda, at the hands of the young artists.
The exhibition features works by artists Kondii Kiyambo, Johnson Mufaba, Danick Bumba, Benigno Tengo, Gato Preto, Hiara Guerra, Imaculada Tchitanga, Maiomona Vua, Yasiel and Uólofe Griot.
Cucarte is a partnership between Cuca and the Hotel InterContinental, created at the end of last year, as a challenge to young visual artists to present a vision of Luanda today. The project also seeks to show what is best done in the art scene in Angola and on the African continent.
