The Provincial Commission for Judicial Coordination of Namibe analyzed, this Wednesday, the actions to be taken to address the emergence of cocaine trafficking in the province and to strengthen the fight against road accidents and crimes of vandalism against public property, among other social ills.

During the meeting, the bodies of the Namibe Justice administration expressed great concern, especially regarding the emergence of cases of cocaine use and trafficking in the region.The Commission meeting allowed for an assessment of the situation regarding the fourth quarter of 2025, concerning road accidents, vandalism of public property, cases of excessive pre-trial detention, domestic violence, and crimes against minors.

According to the Commission’s spokesperson, Álvaro Ndaculute, who did not provide specific figures, the emergence of cases of cocaine use and trafficking in Namibe province is a matter of serious concern for the bodies involved in the administration of justice at the provincial level, but actions have been taken to control it.

“This is the first year we have registered this type of case in the province, but it worries us considerably, given its seriousness, which is why we are addressing this issue at the meeting, as there are minors involved with this type of drug,” he said.Regarding minors, he mentioned that conditions are being created for the construction of a new reception center to help minors who are in conflict with the law.

As for crime in general, the official indicated that cases of vandalism of public property are also a concern for the Commission and that, to eliminate them, policies are being created to close weighing stations and storage facilities for ferrous materials throughout the province.

He further clarified that, during the 4th quarter meeting, the Commission recorded 34 cases of domestic violence, 12 more than in the previous quarter, and three cases of conflicts involving police officers.There were also 11 recorded cases of vandalism of public property, 97 road accidents, mostly involving motor vehicles, and 13 cases of excessive pre-trial detention.

The official considered that at this time the province enjoys great tranquility regarding public safety.
