Africa-Press – Angola. Ten months after becoming a municipality in the province of Moxico Leste, as a result of the Political-Administrative Division (DPA), the town of Nana Candundo is already benefiting from the Urban Redevelopment and Requalification Program, aimed at improving its landscape.

The Municipal Administration of the former commune of the extinct municipality of Alto Zambeze has started an important project that will transform the look of the town of Nana Candundo, with the opening of new streets, the expansion of existing ones, and the placement of street name signs, in accordance with the Toponymy Law in force in Angola since 2016.

The initiative, framed within the Budgetary Plan of the Municipal Administration of Nana Candundo, has as its main objective to improve urban mobility, guarantee better circulation conditions, promote the orderly development of the locality and beautify the town, also known as “Cavungo-Portugal”.

The works, which began in recent days, will cover a stretch of 12 kilometers, complying with urban redevelopment standards and respecting the cultural principles of the communities in the lands of the sovereign Nyakatolo.

During a field visit, the municipal administrator of Nana Candundo, Massela Mussango, went to the site to closely monitor the progress of the works and assess the performance of the company responsible for the project.

On the occasion, she called for rigorous and high-quality work, for the benefit of the local populations.

Nana Candundo, one of the nine municipalities in the province of Moxico-Leste, has an estimated population of over 14,000 inhabitants. Agriculture and fishing are its main sources of livelihood.
