Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of the Interior, Eugénio Laborinho, said, Thursday (17), that he wants a National Police (PN) capable of ensuring the holding of the general elections, scheduled for August, in a climate of tranquility and public peace.
The official made this statement at the opening of the Higher Police Council, which takes place at the Luanda Operative Unit, stressing that the corporation has been organizing itself for more than a year to assume this role.
Eugénio Laborinho underlined the fact that the PN is committed to improving performance levels, always having the Constitution and the law as guiding instruments.
When referring to the vandalization of public assets, Eugénio Laborinho defended the adoption of operational measures to prevent and repress these acts, as well as the exemplary accountability of the perpetrators. He acknowledged that, despite efforts to stop this evil, there are still thefts of electrical cables, vandalism of gutters, windows and doors of public buildings, removal of components from railway lines and damage to public transport.
The Minister of the Interior, Eugénio Laborinho, guided, on the occasion, the personnel of the corporation to intensify the policing of proximity, as a way to materialize the participation of the society in its own security.
The commander-in-chief of the PN, commissioner-general Arnaldo Carlos, said that the meeting will define new forms of action, with a view to the security of citizens, institutions and the country in general.
