Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial director of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), migration commissioner Francisco António Paulo, on Friday urged the personnel of the National Police in the region to redouble their attention and readiness in the exercise of their duties, in order to maintain public order and tranquility throughout the electoral process.
According to the also acting delegate of the Ministry of the Interior in Zaire, who was speaking at the opening of the activities commemorating the 43rd anniversary of the Ministry of the Interior, to be celebrated on 22 June under the motto “MININT 43 years, firm in guaranteeing the peace, security and tranquility”, the August elections should serve as a factor for the preservation of peace, democracy and national unity.
For the success of the process, the migration commissioner Francisco Paulo said that it is necessary for the National Police to be exemplary in securing the election, stressing that each one must freely exercise the right of citizenship.
“Despite the political, economic and social context that the country is going through as a result of the health crisis, which stems from the Covid-19 pandemic, the staff of the National Police must not fail to highlight the image of the corporation”, he appealed.
He guided that the municipal commanders should intensify the dialogue with the communities, taking informative content about the results of the daily actions of the corporation and the transformations carried out for the organization.
As part of the program of activities for the 43rd anniversary of MININT in Zaire, a lecture on the phenomenon of human trafficking in Angola completed the opening ceremony attended by agents of the National Police, Criminal Investigation Services (SIC), Penitentiary and Civil Protection and Firefighters, in the region.
On the occasion, the coordinator of the Provincial Committee for Human Rights in Zaire, Chief Inspector Kinkela Jacob, considered that the phenomenon of human trafficking is under control, but without revealing data: “Children and women are the main victims of this phenomenon, therefore, the whole of society must remain vigilant, with a view to denouncing any case that is typified as trafficking in human beings”.
Political and social activities, with emphasis on blood donation to the Provincial Hospital of Zaire, laying of a wreath at the tomb of unknown soldiers, a mass and the closing of the course of the National Police Reaction and Patrol, in the region, are included in the program.
Present at the 43rd anniversary celebrations were members of the Consultative Council of the Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior in Zaire.
