Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, left Luanda this Monday, bound for the Kingdom of Spain, in order to participate in the Global Conference on the Impact of Vaccination, taking place from 13 to 15 June.
The Head of State was invited to participate in the event, promoted by GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines), taking into account his “very prominent” participation in vaccination against Covid-19 in Africa.
The President of the Republic should take the floor at this meeting of the Global Alliance for Vaccines, according to a note from the Press Secretary of the Presidential Palace.
The event will also have the participation, among other entities, of representatives of multilateral organizations, governments, civil society, companies and universities.
The aim of the meeting is to assess the impact achieved by Gavi (an initiative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) from January 2021 until now, a period in which the initiative faced the double challenge of supporting, with its partners, routine immunization and respond to the needs of Covid-19.
Data from Gavi indicate that, since 2021, the initiative has provided more than 1.9 billion doses of Covid-19 to 146 countries, through COVAX, and supported 32 immunization campaigns in response to outbreaks that occurred in the year 2022 .
The Vaccines Alliance has also revitalized its immunization program against HPV (prevents against cancer), and should support the launch of the first vaccine against malaria in the world, later this year.
Since its creation in 2000, Gavi – Alliance of Vaccines has helped to immunize more than 981 million children and prevented more than 16.2 million deaths, which has helped to reduce, by half, child mortality in 73 countries of low income.
Gavi also plays a key role in improving global health security by supporting health systems and funding global stockpiles of Ebola, cholera and yellow fever vaccines.
After two decades, Gavi is focused on protecting, in particular, children who have not received any vaccine.
The Global Alliance for Vaccines brings together developing country and donor governmenThe second provincial commander of the National Police, deputy commissioner Caetano Quitumbo, Monday, in this city, appealed to the Customs Fiscal Police to provide more collaboration to the General Tax Administration (AGT), in the control of the tax authorities in the province.
According to the person in charge, this measure involves creating conditions that ensure the operational management of the AGT, to collect revenue for the State coffers, through the collection of taxes.
Caetano Quitumbo made this appeal during the festivities of the 27th anniversary of the Customs Fiscal Police, which is celebrated, having highlighted the need for this police body to apply all the inspection tools of goods that enter, transit and leave the province, to the AGT, contribute to combating tax evasion.
He recalled that as a specialized body in customs tax matters, the Fiscal Police must dedicate itself to the inspection, investigation and reprimand of economic infractions, with firmness and dedication.
In turn, the commander of the Malanje Customs Fiscal Unit, chief superintendent Gaspar Adolfo da Silva, highlighted the readiness and levels of action of the staff in preventing, investigating, combating tax and customs infractions, as well as other illegal practices of economic nature.
He expressed the body’s commitment to the mission of assisting in the inspection of economic acts, given the demands of the market, which has been forcing the continuous technical and professional training of the staff and the creation of working conditions.
In this regard, he referred that during the current year, the Tax Police registered 27
tax infractions embodied in smuggling of various goods, forwarded to the AGT, Forestry Development Institute (IDF) and other related bodies, in order to follow the legal procedures, including trial of those involved before the Court.
He made it known that following the operations, 25 Automatic Payment Terminals (APT) were also seized in commercial establishments installed in the informal markets of Xawande, Catepa and Ritondo, whose owners incurred tax evasion.
The act culminated with a lecture on the legal regime of invoices and equivalent documents, promoted by the AGT, which aimed to elucidate the need for updating and other procedures related to the treatment of invoices, the obligation to certify and issue them and other aspects required by law.
In addition, diplomas of merit were awarded to outstanding employees of the Fiscal Police.
The activities take place under the motto “With discipline and rigor in the performance of the Customs Fiscal Police, let us reinforce the external tax inspection in support of the operational management of the AGT, contributing to the collection of revenue for the OGE”. ts, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the World Bank, vaccine industries, technical agencies, civil society, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other private sector partners.
