Africa-Press – Angola. The complete poetic work of António Agostinho Neto continues to arouse the interest of potential writers abroad, who have already requested its presentation in the diaspora, said, Wednesday, the adviser of the Dr António Agostinho Neto Foundation, Carlos Torres.

These are countries like Brazil, Portugal, Italy, Spain and others on the African continent.

Carlos Torres provided this information in the province of Bié, shortly after the public presentation of the work to writers and readers in this part of the country, as part of the centenary celebrations of the greatest poet.

The person in charge said that, since its launch, on September 17, 2022, the work continues to arouse the interest of several students, writers and reciters, especially abroad.

This, he added, motivated FAAN to also translate the poems into languages ​​such as English, French, Spanish, Mandarin, Hindi, Turkish and Korean, as well as into national languages ​​such as Umbundu, Kikongo and Tchockwe.

The institution made available 2,000 copies that are being distributed in the 18 provinces of the country at a price of 3,500 Kwanzas.

Potential writers undertake to produce new literary proposals inspired by the greatest poet

For the poet and writer Neto Ngola, immortalizing the name of António Agostinho Neto and, consequently, his poems is an obligation of the new generation of reciters.

Accordingly, the artist promises to continue to produce lyrics that praise Neto’s ideals, not only as a poet but as the founder of the Angolan Nation.

Adilson Bumba, another writer, who already has a literary work on the market, said it was necessary to consolidate and perpetuate “Neto”, as the greatest poet of the Angolan Nation, therefore, he defended the need to continue to finance projects linked to literature and other arts.

Finally, the delegate of the Brigada Jovem de Literatura in Bié, Álvaro Chimboto Alves, highlighted the need for potential writers to look at Agostinho Neto’s poems as works of values ​​and plenty of teachings.

The writer identified Agostinho Neto as a man of many facets, who, along with medicine and politics, committed himself to promoting and preserving Angola’s cultural identity, in the national and international context, factors that led to the translation of his works into various foreign languages.
