Africa-Press – Angola. The ideals of the founding President of the Angolan nation, António Agostimho Neto, of the country’s socio-economic development are still alive and active, considered, this Wednesday, in Luena, Moxico province, the cultural historian, Salvador Cacoma.
In statements about the legacy of the country’s first President, who passed away 45 years ago, Salvador Cacoma described Agostinho Neto as a man who was always interested in the country’s social and economic progress, with the making of several appealing speeches about the value of work.
To fulfill this desire, he continued, Agostinho Neto made several trips to the interior of the country, to observe the social and economic reality of the country and encouraging investment in the productive sector of the national economy.
To safeguard Neto’s ideals, the historian appealed to young people for greater dedication to training, with a view to guaranteeing the country’s development.According to this historian, there must be greater commitment from youth to the country’s ideals, taking into account the various socio-economic challenges that Angola is going through.
He also defended greater scientific production on the legacy of the nation’s founder, given his contributions to the decolonization process of Angola, through literature and the exercise of politics.
António Agostinho Neto, a doctor by profession, writer and Angolan politician, was the first President of Angola, after proclaiming National Independence, on November 11, 1995, until September 10, 1979.
Born in Kaxicane, Icolo and Bengo, he was born on September 17, 1922, and died in Moscow, a victim of illness.
