Africa-Press – Angola. With the approval and entry into force of Law no. 14/24, of September 5th of the new Political-Administrative Division, the municipality of Jamba, in Huíla, became known as Jamba Mineira.
According to a note from the municipal administration, received today, Monday, the change is supported by articles 444 and 445 of the aforementioned Law.
It maintains that if there is a need to publicize it, the Municipal Administration warns that all institutions that issue documents or letters must, from now on, take into account the current nomenclature.
The municipality of Jamba Mineira is located 315 kilometers east of Lubango and under the DPA it lost the then commune of Dongo, now a municipality.
With an estimated population of one hundred thousand inhabitants, rich in iron and gold, the municipality has always, even informally, been designated as Jamba Mineira, mainly to avoid confusion with the other Jamba, in the province of Cuando.
