Africa-Press – Angola. A new Luanda Military Hospital, with capacity for 144 patients, began to be built inside the Campo Militar do Grafanil (KM9), Urban District of Estalagem, in the municipality of Viana, after the launch, on Wednesday, of the first stone, by the Secretary of State for Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, Domingos Tchikanha.

The new Luanda Central Military Hospital is being built in an area of ​​around 45 thousand square meters and is valued at US$90 million. The health unit, whose works will end in the first quarter of 2026, is designed to have all areas of services, namely surgeries and various specialties in medicine, making it a reference center, differentiating it from other units at the level of country.

The Secretary of State for Former Combatants and Veterans of the Country, Domingos Tchikanha, said that the Angolan Government remains committed to continuing to work to improve medical and pharmaceutical assistance, for the well-being of military personnel and their families.

In addition to this work, according to Domingos Tchikanha, the military hospitals in Cabinda, Moxico and Huambo are under construction, as well as other health infrastructures, with a view to adequately accommodating the personnel and pensioners of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).

According to the Secretary of State for Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, the new military hospital units have, not only as a priority, the guarantee of medical and medication assistance for FAA personnel, but also for civilians who have a signed agreement.

Senior officers from the FAA, doctors and professors from the Instituto Superior Técnico Militar participated in the laying of the stone for the construction of the new Hospital.
