Svante Pääbo, who specializes in the study of evolutionary genetics, has paleogenetics as his research area, a field of studies where he made discoveries related to the genetic differences “that distinguish all living humans from extinct hominids”, says the Nobel Academy, quoted by Notícias to the minute.

The 67-year-old Swede is responsible for “discoveries that provide the basis for exploring what makes us uniquely human”, underlines the same source.

The Nobel Prize is an award that distinguishes important personalities in the fields of Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Peace and Economics, according to the criteria chosen by Swedish and Norwegian institutions.
