Africa-Press – Angola. The National Assembly unanimously approved this Monday the appointment of three jurists to fill vacancies in the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSMJ).
These are Amélia Augusto Varela, Carlos Alberto Cavuquila and Fernando Almeida Gomes, proposed by the MPLA and UNITA Parliamentary Groups, in compliance with the principles of majority and respect for parliamentary minorities.
The groups proposed, on the other hand, the renewal of the mandate, in the same judicial body, of Solange Romero Pereira and Francisco Luemba.
The Superior Council of the Judiciary is headed by the President of the Supreme Court and is composed of three jurists appointed by the President of the Republic, five appointed by the AN and ten judges elected among themselves and by the judicial magistrates.
