Africa-Press – Angola. The mayor of the city of Raleigh, State of North Carolina, United States of America, Mary-Ann Baldwin, proclaimed the 11th of November, the Independence Day of the Republic of Angola, as Angola Day in that locality.
According to the mayor, the road to Independence for Angola began in 1961 with the beginning of the Armada Struggle for National Liberation, which culminated in the conquest of Independence on November 11, 1975.
The City of Raleigh is committed to recognizing the culture and heritage of the Angolan people, as well as the important contribution made by the Angolan community residing in North Carolina, particularly in Raleigh, to the betterment of the city and society in general, read- if in the note.
According to the North American local authorities, thanks to this involvement with the inhabitants and the Angolan community, it made the city more culturally diverse and welcoming to all.
On the 25th of August of the current year, the Angolan ambassador to the United States of America, Joaquim do Espírito Santo, received, in Washington DC, the declaration of the proclamation of the day of Angola in Hampton, Virginia.
The Republic of Angola and the United States of America established formal diplomatic relations in 1993.

Abdel Fattah El-Sisi congratulates Angola on the 47th anniversary of Independence
The President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, addressed, yesterday, a message of congratulations to his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, on the occasion of the celebration of the 47th anniversary of National Independence, marked last Friday, November 11 .
The message, conveyed by Mohamed Reda, which was received by the Angolan ambassador to Egypt, Nelson Manuel Cosme, as special envoy of the Egyptian President, is extended to the Angolan people and highlights the advances achieved throughout the 47 years of Independence, especially , for holding the recent General Elections, which led President João Manuel to a second term.
President El-Sisi also congratulates Angola for the important role it has played in the search for peaceful solutions to regional conflicts and thanks the country for its increased participation in COP27, as well as for the presence of the Angolan delegation in the different forums held within the scope of the 27th UN Conference on Climate Change.
It reiterates the willingness of the Arab Republic of Egypt to continue working with Angola and other African countries, around a common position on climate change and other issues of common interest.
The 47th anniversary of National Independence was celebrated throughout the country and abroad, through different activities of a political-cultural, sporting and recreational nature, with the main event taking place in the province of Luanda, under the presidency of the Minister of Territorial Administration, Dionísio da Fonseca, representing the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
The celebrations took place under the motto “Angolanos, Hands in Hand for the Future”, at a time when the Executive seeks to reinforce the execution of the strategy related to the consolidation of peace and the Democratic State of Law, Reform of the State, Justice, Public Administration, Social Communication and freedom of expression, promotion of the balanced and harmonious development of the territory, promotion of the development of human capital and reduction of social inequalities.
