Africa-Press – Angola. The Ombudsman, Florbela Rocha Araújo, participates today until Thursday at the VII International Congress on Human Rights in Coimbra, according to a statement from the Angolan institution.

The event will take place at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra and is organized by Lus Gentium Conimbrigae, the University’s Center for Human Rights and the National Institute for Research and Promotion of Human Rights of Portugal.

One of the topics to be addressed by the Angolan Ombudsman will be the sharing of information for the creation of a database for the systematization of the registration and treatment of complaints to be presented by citizens to the ombudsman of the countries that make up the CPLP.

This event’s main theme is “A Transdisciplinary Vision”. It will also address topics such as “The Ombudsman and the Defense of Citizens’ Rights”, “The Organization of the Ombudsman Service and its Functional Efficacy”, “Local Authorities and their Relationship with the Ombudsman”, “The Ombudsman in the Current Angolan Constitution”, among others.

Among the various entities invited to participate in the event, researchers on issues related to Human Rights, magistrates, lawyers and ombudsmen from CPLP member countries stand out.

The Angolan Ombudsman, Florbela Rocha Araújo, was invited to make a presentation as head of the International Institute of Ombudsmen of the African Region and president of the Ombudsmen of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (REDE CPLP).
