The deputy governor of Cabinda for the Economic and Productive Sector defended, this Monday (25), in this city, the need for the provincial services of the Ombudsman’s Office to be more attentive to the abuses or excesses practiced by agents of the local Public Administration. , in the interest of “ensuring cordial relations between citizens and State institutions”.
Macário Lembe was speaking on the occasion of the opening of the activities alluding to the Ombudsman’s week. He highlighted that the defense of citizens’ rights, freedoms and guarantees requires the cooperation of all in order to eliminate the constraints that still exist in the successful fulfillment of the Ombudsman’s role.
“In the name of the public interest, the collaboration of the authorities and institutions subject to the supervision of the Ombudsman is required so that this body can normally exercise its function of preserving the Democratic State and Law in our country”, he stressed.
On the other hand, he defended the creation of a space for dialogue between the Ombudsman and citizens, through radio, television, theatrical programs, lectures to better illustrate the importance of advocating for people’s rights, freedoms and guarantees.
To the citizens, the deputy governor Macário Lembe advised resorting to the local service of the Ombudsman, whenever they feel their rights violated: “It is an appropriate space where, in an informal way, they can present complaints and claims”.
The provincial Ombudsman, Santos de Araújo, said that the institution is a State body whose mission is to defend people whose fundamental rights are violated or feel harmed by unfair or illegal acts by the Public Administration.
