Africa-Press – Angola. President João Lourenço reaffirmed on Monday (09), in Luanda, that “His boss is the people” and that the opposition sabotages some of the government’s initiatives that aim to improve the citizens’ quality of life.
In an interview with Angolan Public Television (TPA), the Head of State maintained that it is to the people that he must be accountable.
“When the people put me in this place, in 2017, and then in 2022, the mission they gave me was: we are telling you to do everything to solve our problems”, he stressed.
He admitted that he is not always well understood, mainly by the opposition parties, which believe that in order to achieve their objectives they should even try to hinder or sabotage projects that the Executive has in the pipeline.
President João Lourenço acknowledged the difficulties that the population is going through, but listed the achievements underway to combat these imbalances, stating that if the country had more money he would create a 2nd Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM).
“When we said that we were going to use those financial resources to finance the PIIM, we heard voices against, as they say, discouraging us from doing so. Don’t do that, you are compromising the future of our children,” he recalled.
The President and head of the Executive also reassured that, despite some controversy, the politico-administrative division of the country must continue, for, in his opinion, the dimension of the territory demands the existence of more than 21 provinces.
