Africa-Press – Angola. The Project “Teatro com os Jovens da Mulemba”, from Fundação Arte e Cultura, returns today, at 6 pm, to the Wyza Anfiteatro Auditorium, on the island of Luanda, with the exhibition of the dramatic show “O Óbito de Rent”.
The work thus opens the set of stagings to be presented, in that space of culture, located on Ilha de Luanda. The project aims, more than diversifying cultural proposals for art lovers, to develop Angolan arts and culture, as well as to support young artists who seek support to show their talents.
The work “Obito de Rent” brings to reflection two great phenomena: first, the funeral rituals in the African cultural context and reason is called in the sense of full solidarity that is imposed, empathy when “renting” the pain of others, and crying the death. From the point of view of African cultures, pain is collective. And children, as beings, are the result of a cultural construction of the community. Therefore, when someone leaves for another dimension of life, the loss is also collective and the pain is transversal to the living loved ones of the family.
The second reflection concerns the phenomenon of Infidelity, in which a man lives an extra-marital relationship for almost two decades, without raising any suspicion in the community. The sudden death of Senhor Pedro raises great suspicion in the neighborhood: “to what extent is it normal for a woman who is not the widow to cry until she sighs? How to mourn the death of a lover without raising suspicion? neighbor, without setting foot in your house?” These and other questions will be raised throughout the show.
