Outgoing ambassador of São Tomé says goodbye to the President of the Republic

Africa-Press – Angola. The outgoing ambassador of São Tomé and Príncipe in Angola, Carlos Gustavo dos Anjos, presented, this Wednesday, in Luanda, farewell greetings to the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço.

According to the diplomat, who spoke to the press at the end of the meeting with the Angolan statesman, there were seven years of very intense activity that served to contribute to the growth of cooperation between the two States.

According to the ambassador, his work list included strengthening ties of cooperation and friendship, resolving the main afflictions of the large São Tomé community in Angola, and facilitating circulation between the two countries.

“All objectives were achieved, so we left here very satisfied and with a feeling of accomplishment. We could have done more, but we are certain that our contribution was made to strengthening bilateral relations,” he said.

São Tomé and Príncipe is an African island country near the equator, located in the Gulf of Guinea. It has a population of around 160 thousand inhabitants and its main potential is coffee production, fishing, agriculture, tourism, among others.

Friendship and cooperation relations between the two States are based on political, historical, cultural and geographical factors, formalized in 1978, through the General Cooperation Agreement and the Bilateral Joint Commission, created in 1980.
