Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Youth, Francisco Boaventura Tchitapa, highlighted, this Monday, in Luena (Moxico), the involvement of local youth in the practice and growth of fighting sports.
The leader, who was speaking during a ceremony for the delivery of IT equipment to different youth and sports associations in the province, highlighted the initiatives of local youth, for the promotion of sports, with emphasis on fighting modalities.
According to the Secretary of State, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will work to guarantee the necessary conditions, with the aim of contributing to the massification of these sports in the region.
“What we saw demonstrates that Moxico’s youth are really active in sport”, he reiterated.
As for the IT resources delivered, he said that the objective is to help leverage the activities promoted by local youth associations.
Taekwondo, which has 700 affiliated athletes in the categories of beginners, juveniles, juniors and seniors distributed in seven academies in different municipalities, Judo and Karate, with several participations in National Championships, are the fighting modalities that stand out the most in the Moxico.
The lack of training and competition venues, as well as the lack of means such as a mat (tatami), gloves and helmets stand out among the current difficulties.
