Africa-Press – Angola. Adolescent Eva Faria Lourenço, who has a strange disease, which caused a substantial increase in her breasts, is already hospitalized at Hospital Josina Machel (HJM), announced yesterday, the director general of the institution, Carlos Zeca.
The doctor explained that the 17-year-old patient was received at the clinical unit, on Wednesday, where she is already being examined, with a view to allowing proper treatment, mainly to minimize the pain and high fevers caused by the wounds that the girl has on her breasts.
“This is the first step, but during the time that Eva is hospitalized, she will do all the medical tests possible to know for sure what is causing the abnormal growth of the breasts and benefit from a surgical intervention, if necessary, so that the teenager’s life can return to normality”, said the director general of the HJM.
The head of Surgery Services at HJM, Judith Apelo, said that according to some tests already done, the idea that is, a priori, is that Eva may suffer from a deep fibrocystic disease of the breast (benign tumor). “If so, she will possibly have an immediate solution.”
Judith Appeal advances that more in-depth tests are needed, such as a CAT scan (computed tomography) of the breast and biopsy, to confirm or rule out the benign tumor, which may allow for earlier treatment.
The head of the Surgery Services said that, having left the hospital, in 2020, Eva Lourenço will undergo a repetition of all medical exams, as the patient has spent a year without any type of medical follow-up, a condition that worsened her condition.
