For the secretary of the MPLA’s Political Bureau for International Relations, Manuel Augusto, the historical ties between the MPLA and the PCC must be maintained at all costs.

He recalled that they are legacies of the first president of Angola, Antonio Agostino Neto and the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, forged during the national liberation struggle led by the MPLA.

History records that an MPLA delegation traveled to Havana, in July 1974, on the occasion of the celebrations of another anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada Barracks.

The delegation carried a message from Agostinho Neto to Fidel Castro, requesting help with military instructors, weapons and financial support.

The mission would open the way for later contacts, which would lead Cuba to help Angola.

The MPLA celebrated, this Sunday, December 10th, its 67th anniversary with a commitment to improving the lives of national citizens.
