Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda starts today, at 9:00 am, at the Demósthenes de Almeida Complex, in Catetão, the process of attracting athletes, aged 15 to 19, with a view to the project for the creation of the future women’s football team.
The formation of a women’s team comes in compliance with the guidelines of the African Football Confederation (CAF), for clubs that intend to integrate the future African Super League, as is the case of Petro de Luanda, one of the participants of the meeting held by the governing body of the sport on the continent, in February this year, in Douala (Cameroon), in the presence of Giovanni Infantino, president of FIFA.
The women’s football development project began to be implemented recently by the management of the tricolors, with the Cuban Maria Garcia as sub-coordinator. According to the person in charge, the team building process was studied and analyzed during the scientific conferences promoted by the club last September. The event made it possible to ensure the creation of all the conditions for the achievement of the objective.
Maria Garcia underlined, on the other hand, that women’s football will follow the style of play and profile characteristic of men’s football. But, for that, the club hopes to work on overcoming the coaches. “We are very excited about this project, because it is a great asset for Petro and an honor to be able to cooperate within science, for the development of women’s football,” she said.
The aforementioned process of building the women’s football team, remember, will start from scratch, with training athletes, most of the girls coming from the Technical Industrial School of Cazenga, where there is already a nucleus of the club. During the recruitment period, several other volunteer talents will also be under observation and testing.
