Africa-Press – Angola. The Petro de Luanda team can today shorten the lead in the National Football Championship of the I Division, when they face ASK Dragão, at 15:00, at Estádio 4 de Janeiro, in a match for the fourth round.
Days after having secured their fifth presence in the group stage of the African Champions League, the tricolors turned batteries to Girabola, with the aim of giving a positive sequence to the cycle of positive results.
The team led by Alexandre Santos makes an exceptional start to the season, so the Uíge team should be prepared to face an opponent with extremely high morale. It will also be an opportunity for Petro to prove that the “triumphal ride” carried out in the African competition was not the work of mere chance.
If, on the one hand, the Uijenses come from two draws and one defeat, numbers that put them in fourteenth place, with two points, on the other hand, the tricolors accumulate two victories in an equal number of matches, occupying the third position, with six points and minus two games.
Therefore, a good football match is foreseen. ASK Dragão is one of the rookie teams in the championship and should face this duel against the reigning champion as if it were the first “test of fire” it was, to their ability to react to adversity.
The uncomfortable position in the classification table forces the team from Uíge not to make “life” easier for Petro.
The national champion is not expected to do anything else today, on the 4th of January, other than a burst into the game. In other words, the tricolors must claim the territorial domain of the match.
Although the predictions point to a game in which the tricolors will take the most possession of the ball and have the most chances to score, the probability that the hosts will be the protagonists of some surprise in the match is not ruled out.
ASK Dragão has been doing reasonable performances and can use their audience to gain motivation and “pull the gallons” of a high level performance.
As can easily be foreseen, Petro and ASK Dragão have the responsibility of providing the fans, in Uige, with a show of acceptable quality.
Be that as it may, the truth is that, faced with an opponent of the quality of the tricolors, the Uijenses are aware that they will need to arrive at this game with the lesson very well studied, under penalty of failing the test.
In the event of a victory, Petro will reach eight points and take back Girabola’s vice-leadership, two points away from the current leader, Wiliete de Benguela, with 10 points.
Tomorrow, to close the day, 10 de Agosto will travel to the land of Desportivo da Lunda Sul, in Saurimo, for the game scheduled for 15:30, at Estádio das Mangueiras.
