Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda lost Friday, in Kigali, against Mali’s Stade Malien, by 65-73, in a match for third place in the African Basketball League (BAL – acronym in English), which takes place in Rwanda.

With no reaction at all levels, the Angolan champions were at a disadvantage in the first period, by 15-20, against an opponent who did not make much effort to win.

Despite a slight improvement in the next quarter, without going ahead on the scoreboard, Petro continued to lose balls, resulting in a new defeat at halftime, by 34-36.

Good start of the game in the third quarter, where for the first time they went ahead 43-38, 46-40 and 48-40, they were responsible for the new posture of Ater Majok, Aboubakar Gakou and Carlos Morais. Petro won this stage by 54-50.

The Stade Malien, without much effort, managed to unbalance the scoreboard again without giving any chance of victory to the Angolans who remain outside the podium, contrary to the two previous editions of this new version of the League-style competition.

Carlos Morais, with 15 points, was Petro’s top scorer, the only one to reach double digits in the “tricolor” emblem.

Aliou Diarra, with 25 points, was the best scorer of the match.
