Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda beat Interclube, 92-80, (Friday), in the country’s capital, in the first play-off match of the final of the National Senior Men’s Basketball Championship, played in the Pavilion of Kilamba.

At halftime of the game, the best of three, the “oil” team already had a 58-39 advantage over the “police” team, showing the strong intention to revalidate the title.

The second challenge takes place, Sunday, at 6pm, in the same venue.

To reach the final, Petro beat Casa do Pessoal do Porto do Lobito in the semi-finals, with a double of 100-67 and 92-91, respectively, in the best of three games.

Interclube defeated 1o de Agosto, with tight results of 101-99 and 84-83.

Still on the game, the two teams started well offensively, having balanced the score, in the first period, by 13-13 and 20-20, and ending in a 27-27 draw.

The second quarter was the one in which Petro’s team came in more confidently and overcame Interclube, with a 21-point difference (58-37), as a result of the break. In the third period, the “oil workers” won again, by 74-60.

In the last one, despite the great effort made by the players of the “police” team, the “tricolores” guaranteed a difference of 12 points, enough for a 92-80 triumph.

Interclube captain Wilson Ambrósio was the top scorer, with 22 points, followed by Markeith Cummings, from Petro (21).

With refereeing by Cláudio Eluba, assisted by António Bernardo and António Samuel, the teams scored as follows:
