Africa-Press – Angola. Seven hundred and three (703) immigrants from the Democratic Republic of Congo who were trying to illegally enter Angola and settle in various diamond mining areas were prevented, Thursday, by the Border Guard Police (PGF), in Lunda Norte.
The spokesman for the Provincial Command of the National Police in Lunda Norte, Domingos Muanafumo, who provided this information Friday, in Dundo, said that some of these individuals intended to reach the country’s capital, Luanda, and others to settle in the municipalities of Cuango, Caungula, Lóvua, Chitato and Cambulo, diamond producers.
He added that the discovery resulted from intense operations along the border, which culminated in the immediate repatriation of said immigrants to their country of origin.
The source underlined that foreigners continue to bet on clandestine immigration at night, using “fiotes” paths, and called on traditional authorities and the population to continue collaborating with defense and security bodies in the fight against this phenomenon. .
Recently, defense and security bodies prevented the illegal entry of 589 immigrants from the DRC into Angolan territory.
