Africa-Press – Angola. The Public Prosecutor at the Criminal Investigation Service reviewed, this Saturday, the processes involving or not excessive preventive detention and other conduct in the province of Lunda Sul. in the eastern region of the country.

The measure, by Feliciano Massala, falls within the scope of the generic inspection of the restoration of legality, a work that involves the Department of Investigation and Criminal Illicit (DIIP).

The “inspections” of the processes are being monitored by the Public Prosecutor, with the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), Feliciano Massala, at the Luzia Prison.

The process made it possible to observe the prison situation of the inmates, with regard to the date of detention, the expiration of preventive detention, compliance with the transfer of the charge according to the Law.

In the act, headed by the Public Prosecutor at the SIC, Feliciano Massala, stressed that there is an urgent need for the processes to be analyzed within the scope of their responsibility, facilitating judicial work.

The work, in the same way, foresees to contribute in the obedience of the introduction of the new Law on Juiz de Guarante in ways to change the measure of coercion of the prison situation, in some cases.

The magistrate also reiterated that it is up to the Guarantee Judge to decide whether there will be preventive detention, house arrest or a ban on leaving the country.

It should be noted that the in-service commission analyzed around 90 processes.

It should be noted that, this month of May, four prisoners from the same jail were released, for good conduct, after serving eight years in jail, out of the 14 applied by the Provincial Court.

With a prison population of 481 inmates, 291 of whom are convicts and 190 are detained, the Luzia prison is 20 kilometers from the city of Saurimo.

The Luzia prison has modern means of monitoring, an arts and crafts area, women’s and men’s blocks, a medical center, laundry, cafeterias, industrial kitchen, bakery, among other areas.
