The Attorney General’s Office will hold a round table in Luanda in the coming days to discuss the fight against smuggling of petroleum products.The activity, according to information provided by the PGR, is part of the celebrations of the institution’s 46th anniversary, to be celebrated on the 27th of this month, and the 50th anniversary of National Independence.
The document also highlights the presentation of the institution’s historical retrospective on the 24th of this month, and the holding of a retreat on the following day (25) with the participation of motivational speakers.
At the opening of the “Legality Month” that took place in Ndalatando, Cuanza-Norte, the deputy attorney general of the Republic, Inocência Pinto, announced the recovery of more than 1,800 million dollars, including movable and immovable assets, shareholdings and monetary values, as part of the fight against economic and financial crime.
The judge explained that the recovery of these assets and their subsequent return to the public sphere have contributed significantly to the solution of numerous social problems, such as the construction of schools and health units, as well as the implementation of other projects aimed at improving the living conditions of the population.The fight against economic and financial crime, the magistrate said, has posed enormous challenges to the PGR, requiring the tireless deployment of technicians, through contacts with various jurisdictions, where a large part of the illegally expatriated resources are domiciled. She also explained that in 2024, 227,808 cases of various natures were opened in addition to those carried over from the previous year, making a total of 810,009 cases, of which 565 were related to economic and financial crime. Of the total of 810,009 cases, the deputy attorney general added, 28,406 were processed in court. Regarding human resources, Inocência Pinto highlighted the entry of 175 new magistrates into the Public Prosecutor’s Office, distributed throughout the country, currently making a total of 784 active prosecutors.
