Africa-Press – Angola. The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) may have its own premises until next July, announced Friday (22), the head of the institution, Hélder Pitta Groz.

The Attorney General of the Republic provided the information in a tribute, in life, to retired magistrates and retired justice technicians, on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the institution, which is celebrated on the 27th of this month.

He said that the new facilities are located in the Ingombota area and will allow for its different services to be concentrated in a single building, noting that, at the moment, the PGR has 680 magistrates and another 150 may add to this number this year.

The highest representative of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, quoted by, promised to provide, next week, information on the ongoing asset recovery process. Without specifying numbers, he informed that the process is continuing to reduce the excess of preventive detention in national prisons.

In messages read, on the occasion, on behalf of the 44 retired magistrates and 16 justice technicians, the fact that they had been honored while still alive was praised and they appealed for greater attention to their social conditions.

Diplomas were awarded and a book portraying the 40th anniversary of the founding of the PGR was awarded. Just yesterday, the work “Historical Evolution of the Angolan Judicial System” was launched, with 139 pages, authored by regional deputy attorney Pedro Fonseca.

The tribute is part of the program of the week of legality, in allusion to the 43rd anniversary of the PGR, which takes place under the motto “Respect and defense of fundamental rights, freedoms and guarantees in the electoral context”.
