PGR Shares Strategies against Organized Crime

Africa-Press – Angola. The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) shared the strategies it has been applying in the fight against organized crime, radiological terrorism, security and nuclear control, at the meeting of the Interpol Working Group for Southern Africa (GEIGER), held from the 6th to the 9th of this month, in Pretoria, South Africa.According to a statement from the PGR, the country was represented by a delegation led by the Public Prosecutor, Dionísio de Jesus, which also included representatives from the State Intelligence and Security Service (SINSE), the Atomic Energy Regulatory Agency (AREA) and the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), at the invitation of the General Secretariat of Interpol.

The Interpol Working Group was created within the scope of the project of the same name, coordinated by the Interpol Directorate for the Prevention of Radioactive and Nuclear Terrorism, with the aim of supporting SADC countries in preventing and combating organised crime, radiological terrorism, as well as nuclear security and control.During the meeting, information was shared on investigation techniques, emerging trends, threats and real cases related to this type of crime, with the active participation of experts and law enforcement agencies from the Member States in the region.

The Angolan delegation was also invited to participate in a restricted meeting with Interpol experts, where sensitive information was discussed and technical and operational recommendations were issued to strengthen regional cooperation and effectively combat this type of threat.
