Africa-Press – Angola. The Provisional Preparatory Committee of the Angolan Humanist Party rejected the candidacy of Savemba Luís Martinha Cassula, one of the opponents of the current president of the political party, Florbela Malaquias.

The commission claims that it does not meet the required requirements, thus paving the way for a single application.

With just days to go before the Congress, movements within the Humanist Party of Angola are intensifying, with accusations swirling about the current management of the political party created on the eve of the 2022 elections.

Anderson Diogo, spokesperson for the PH Congress Preparatory Committee, asserts that the activist in question has only himself to blame. The candidacy of activist Florbela Malaquias was deemed valid for meeting the established requirements and criteria, while the candidacy of activist Savemba Luís Martinha Cassula was not validated for failing to meet the mandatory requirements stipulated by the statutes and regulations, namely, failing to submit a list of 50 signatories, accredited delegates, with their full names, copies of their ID cards, and the province of each. Diogo asserts that, faced with several shortcomings, there was no way to turn a blind eye.

According to Anderson Diogo, activist Savemba Cassula failed to submit the list of 40 candidates to the National Political Commission, meeting the identification criteria and respecting gender parity, nor did he submit the corresponding electoral manifesto. The convention promises to bring together approximately 210 delegates from the 21 provinces in the Angolan capital for the election of a board of directors, to be held on August 30th.

The PHA is facing an internal crisis, with the existence of a wing that recently removed Florbela Malaquias from the position of president of the PHA during an extraordinary meeting.

The wing alleges that, after the 2022 general elections, Florbela Malaquias promoted an internal restructuring, appointing members of the board to the National Electoral Commission (CNE) without going through deliberation by the National Political Commission, the highest body between congresses.

Faced with this situation, the wing appealed to the Constitutional Court (TC), which has not yet ruled.

The Humanist Party of Angola (PHA), in the 2022 elections, won two deputies to the National Assembly.
