Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Phonographic Industry Association (AIFA) will be officially presented, on Thursday, in Luanda, to attract foreign investment to the Angolan music market and defend the rights of phonogram and videogram producers.

The presentation ceremony will take place in the cultural space of Palácio de Ferro.

Speaking this Tuesday, the director of AIFA, Paulo Cassoma, said that he intends to create the Top 100 of the most played and used songs, among other contributions to the Phonogram Industry in the country.

He explained that the association will contribute to issuing reports on the phonogram and videogram market in Angola, in order to combat piracy and create viable mechanisms for the smooth functioning and remuneration of producers, in the attribution of Gold, Platinum and Diamond awards.

“It is an association created under the terms of the Law on Copyright and Related Rights, the Law on Associations and which awaits licensing from the National Service for Copyright and Related Rights of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism”, he argued.

Paulo Cassoma revealed that he intends to diagnose the state of the phonogram industry in the country, analyzing the opportunities, advantages and disadvantages, to combat the industry’s ills and take advantage of the strengths for its development.

According to him, there is a music market in the country with the potential to become one of the most developed phonogram industries in Africa.

Therefore, he considered organizing, valuing and defending the interests of phonogram producers and combating piracy essential for the development of this industry.

He informed that after the presentation, the first months will be used for certification with the National Service for Copyright and Related Rights (SENADIAC), as a Collective Management Entity.

He stressed that the association intends to achieve faithful representation in the national phonogram market and that it will focus on training members in matters relating to related rights and protection mechanisms.

The Association of the Phonogram Industry of Angola (AIFA) is a legal entity under private law, specialized, independent and non-governmental for the collective management of related rights of phonogram and videogram producers and broadcasting organizations.

It has a national scope and is non-profit.
