Africa-Press – Angola. Since today, Friday, the population of the municipality of Mungo, province of Huambo, has had three new social facilities, built within the scope of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).

The inauguration of the infrastructure was the responsibility of the governor of Huambo province, Lotti Nolika.

It is a school with seven classrooms, built in Ombala Chiteva, 23 kilometers from the Mungo headquarters, with capacity to accommodate 490 primary students, who studied in precarious conditions.

The social equipment, the first built since colonial times in Chiteva, with 16 villages, was financed by the Municipal Integrated Intervention Plan (PIIM), at a cost of 91 million 250 thousand Kwanzas.

Named Primary School n013 Ngandjandumbu, the infrastructure, with the aim of responding to student growth in the locality and improving conditions for the teaching/learning process, has a teachers’ room, offices for the general and pedagogical director, a secretariat, among other compartments.

In a message to the beneficiaries, student Salomàƒo Miguel said that the children of Chiteva are grateful for the gesture of the Government of the province of Huambo Huambo for the construction of the school, which will contribute to the formation of the personality of the local children.

With the new school infrastructure coming into operation, the municipality of Mungo now has 37 schools, of which 34 are primary, two in the I cycle and one in the II cycle, where 39 thousand 744 students study, taught by 693 teachers.

At the same time, Governor Lotti Nolika handed over two health posts to residents of the villages of Damasco-Chango, Cambuengo commune, and in ombala Elimbondo, at the municipal headquarters, with the aim of improving medical/medicinal care for the population.

The Ombala Elimbondo health post, worth 41 million, 872 thousand and 250 Kwanzas, will provide prenatal consultations, pediatrics, medicine, pharmacy, minor surgery, childbirth and hospitalization services to the surrounding villages.

While the one in Damasco-Chango, with the same services, cost 25 million, 850 thousand Kwanzas.

With the two new ventures, the Health system in the municipality of Mungo now has 14 health units, including a municipal hospital, five centers and eight posts, provided by 317 workers, including doctors, nurses, diagnostic and therapeutic technicians and hospital support.

In the end, the governor of Huambo province, Lotti Nolika, said that the public investments inaugurated will improve the social well-being of the population of Mungo.

In addition to resolving the difficulties with the access road, energy and water, he said that the authorities’ concern will now be to work to build the technicians’ residence, as the infrastructures already in operation are far from the municipal headquarters.

Lotti Nolika informed that the PIIM works in the province of Huambo are 80 percent physically completed and that all necessary efforts are being made to complete them as soon as possible.

The municipality of Mungo, one of the 11 that make up this region of the country, is 130 kilometers from the city of Huambo, with 153 thousand 629 people, mostly peasants, distributed across the municipalities of Cambuengo and Sede.
