Africa-Press – Angola. The elaboration of the National Geology Plan (Planageo) is practically concluded, only missing part of the mapping of a part of the provinces of Lunda Norte, Moxico and Lunda Sul (Eastern region of Angola), assured this Wednesday, in Luanda, the secretary of State of Mineral Resources, Jânio Victor.
Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the first edition of the round table on “Women in the Angolan mining industry”, the official made it known that the National Institute of Geology and the Chinese company Citic are already drawing up the work schedule to complete the geological studies in these provinces.
On the occasion, he pointed out the elaboration of geological maps, which portray the geological reality of the provinces of Cuando Cubango, Cunene, Namibe, Benguela, Huambo, Bié, Cabinda, Zaire, Uíge, Cuanza Norte, Bengo, Luanda, a part of Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul as one of the results achieved with the implementation of Planageo.
He also highlighted that this plan enabled the training of technicians, as well as the installation of several laboratories in Luanda, Huíla and Lunda Sul, in addition to producing more detailed geological and geochemical maps.
He clarified that the Planageo allows giving evidence or probabilities of the existence of minerals in a given area, a process must be followed by a more in-depth prospecting study.
According to Jânio Victor, these results are of crucial importance for businessmen who intend to invest in this area, minimizing investment risks.
Launched in May 2014, Planageo aims to carry out a scientific survey of Angola’s mineral and geological potential, as well as attract more investors in the mining sector.
