Africa-Press – Angola. A 49-year-old National Police officer, assigned to the Personal Security Unit and Protocol Entities, committed suicide by shooting himself in the head, this Friday, at his work station.

The incident took place at around 7:00 am, inside the premises of the Provincial Court of the District of Benguela, where the victim was on guard duty.

The information was provided, by the spokesman for the Provincial Command of Benguela of the PN, superintendent Ernesto Tchiwale, adding that the motivations for this act are being investigated.

Data collected, he said, show that the victim, for no apparent reason, isolated himself in a resting place and, using an AKM-type firearm in his possession, shot him in the jaw area, causing his death. immediate.

Ernesto Tchiwale said that the PN Provincial Command in Benguela regrets what happened and sends deep feelings of regret to the bereaved family.

Citizens detained for vandalizing residences in the centrality of Luhongo

Two national citizens were detained by the National Police, in the centrality of Luhongo, municipality of Catumbela, for allegedly removing twelve doors and two washbasins in four uninhabited residences, the source said.

The spokesperson said that the suspects were detained by agents of the police station at the said centrality, as part of the “Quissonde” operation, carried out by the Provincial Command of the National Police in Benguela.

Ernesto Tchiwale said that the arrest took place around 11:00 pm on the 24th of the current month, following a complaint from people who reported the vandalism of residences in block B, which moved the forces to the location, making it possible to detain the presumed perpetrators. and seize the stolen goods.

He made it known that one of the detainees worked as a private security guard at a residence in the aforementioned centrality and, allegedly, six of the 12 stolen doors were ordered by his boss (also detained), who intended to apply them in the form of replacement in her vandalized residence. in an earlier stage.

Detainees and seized assets will be presented to the public prosecutor for subsequent legal steps.

In the same vein, it reported that the PN detained, on the night of July 25, a 21-year-old citizen, known only as “Altura”, in possession of a pistol-type firearm, commonly known as Tamborito.

The arrest took place in the Calombutão neighborhood, in the municipality of Benguela, when DIIP personnel caught the suspect in a rubble, where he was sheltering.

The spokesperson also said that, on the same night, a group of criminals made up of four elements, aged between 18 and 35 years old, was caught robbing passers-by on National Road No. Lobito), all of whom have already been arrested.
