Africa-Press – Angola. One hundred and twenty-nine citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and one from Cameroon were, on Friday, questioned by the Border Guard Police in the province of Zaire, for attempting to illegally enter the national territory.
The spokesman for the Provincial Delegation of the Interior in Zaire, Sérgio Afonso, said in statements this Saturday, to the press, that the violations occurred at the border posts of Nóqui, Luvo, Mpozo, Ntoyo, Kinsende, Buela, Luangu and Marco 12.
According to the official, the interpellations are the result of foot patrol work carried out by the Border Guard Police (PGF) forces along the dividing line with the DRC.
Also on Friday, PGF staff in the region seized considerable amounts of dried fish along the border, for alleged smuggling of goods.
Weekly, hundreds of foreign citizens, especially those from the DRC, are questioned and arrested for attempting to enter the country illegally.
The province of Zaire, in the north of Angola, shares 310 kilometers of land and river border (Zaire River) with the DRC.
